Turning fifteen is an important milestone! In the Lutheran church, a quinceañera celebration provides a young woman with the opportunity to affirm her baptism and confess her faith. It also creates a special time to thank God for the blessings a young woman has received in her life and to ask for God’s help in her future. The quinceañera is a traditional celebration of life and gratitude to God on the occasion of the fifteenth birthday of a young Hispanic woman. The ritual emphasizes her passage from childhood to adulthood. The family usually requests a worship service blessing to be held in the Church. The rite is frequently celebrated in several countries in the Americas, including Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Zion is able to arrange for a quinceañera service. This service is available after the young woman, her parents or guardians, and padrinos have talked with the Pastor about what it means to Affirm our Faith. We want to provide the teenager and her family an overview of the Christian faith and practical considerations for living as a young Christian adult.  God promises that time spent gathered around the Word and Sacraments cause our faith to grow. Therefore, we encourage and expect all quinceañera participants to continue their involvement in the church community.
