In 2010, the congregation approved the Program Assessment Team vision statements, including one that promoted capital improvements. The Council in February of 2011 recommended unanimously holding a capital appeal based on the Long Range Planning committee recommendations. The Capital Fund Appeal is called “Forward in Faith” and it is based on Hebrews 12:1-2 which states:
“Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith”.
On June 5, 2011, we held our Celebration Sunday Meal in the fellowship hall. It was actually Ascension Sunday, a time we remembered Jesus ascending into heaven and before the day of Pentecost. The sermon was about waiting in prayer until the day of Pentecost. We waited to see the response to the Capital Appeal. At the lunch we learned that we received pledges totaling $377,827.00 for the next three years. WOW! We thank God for those who have pledged and given to the appeal as we move Forward in Faith. If you haven’t made a donation or pledge yet, we ask you to pray and consider supporting the Capital Appeal at anytime.
The pledge appeal goes from July 1, 2011 to June 31, 2014. We ask you to donate to the Capital Fund Appeal by using the envelopes you receive in the mail that say “Capital Fund Appeal” or you may use the offering envelope in the pew and mark the line that says “Capital Fund Appeal” or just send in a donation to Zion with the memo line marked “Capital Fund Appeal”. Whichever way you give, it will be a blessing to our ministry and mission. Even if you haven’t pledged, you are welcome to make donations toward the appeal anytime. Whatever you are able to give, we thank you for helping us as we move Forward in Faith at Zion. Praise God from who all blessings flow.
